The Critics Choice Association will once again be honouring the year’s finest achievements in documentaries released in theatres, on TV and on major digital platforms, as determined by the voting of qualified CCA members.
And this year two proudly South African documentaries have been nominated.In the Best Documentary category Netflix original ,My Octopus Teacher ,has been nominated, and In the Best Documentary Short category ,My Father the Mover.
My Father the Mover tells the tale of Stoan, a dancer who uses African electronic Gqom beats to motivate youngsters in the township of Khayelitsha to jive through their hardships and find their ‘superpowers’. It has already won the Best Documentary Short Film Award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The winners will be revealed in a Special Announcement on Monday, November 16, 2020.
