Mzansi was in shock Tuesday at news of the death of BlackByrd singer Tamsyn Maker.
Maker, together with Tarryn Lamb and Axene Prinsloo, were the founding members of the popular South African all-girl group in 2012. The band was formed after Lamb posted an advert on Gumtree looking for other musicians to start an all-girl group. It was not long after this that they were signed by EMI and released their debut album, Strong.
Maker’s passing was confirmed in a Facebook post by Corinne Deliipini Abrahams. Taking to the social media platform, Corinne wrote that Tamsyn Leigh Maker was their beautiful niece and cousin.
Abrahams said that she was “gone too soon” and that they were “ extremely saddened and devastated” by her death.
While tributes have been pouring in on social media, no cause of death has been given.
May you RIP Tamsyn Maker.
