Trevor Noah makes it to TIME magazine's 100 most influential people list

From the dusty streets of township life, to the purchase of a R130 million apartment in the Big Apple that boasts a view of the Empire State Building from one of its bathrooms, Trevor Noah has defied all the odds stacked against him.  And now, drum roll please, our Trev has just been named one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people of 2018.

This accolade is, according to the magazine, bestowed on individuals recognised for changing the world, regardless of the consequences of their actions. TIME magazine has praised Trevor Noah for his incredible rise to fame, and for the work that he is doing on The Daily Show. Noah took over from Jon Stewart back in 2015 as the host of the show.

If you want to find out more about his journey to super stardom, his autobiography, Born a Crime, came out in 2016 and not only did it become a New York Times Bestseller, it also picked up the James Thurber Prize for American Humour and two NAACP Image Awards. If, however, you are not a reader, you can wait for the movie adaptation of the book to make its appearance. Kenyan-Mexican actress, Lupita Nyong'o, has bagged the role of Trevor’s mom and production is currently underway.

Other famous folk chosen this year for the much coveted list include Roger Federer, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna and Prince Harry. Trevor has appeared on the cover of TIME magazine twice.
