Keith Flint, the dynamic frontman for The Prodigy has died at the age of 49, his bandmates have confirmed to the media that the British musician had taken his own life.
Police were called to his home in Essex shortly after 8.10 am Monday morning where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Details of the cause of death are still to be established but foul play is not suspected.
Flint became one of the most famous faces of the British Electronic music rage, performing outlandish moves while wearing equally outlandish outfits, makeup and face piercings, Keith was a performer like no other.
The Prodigy climbed from the underground rave scene in the early 1990s to number 1 in the charts with their hits "Firestarter" and "Breathe" in 1996 and became one of Britain's biggest bands.
In one of his interviews, Keith admitted that his depression, heavy use of drugs and alcohol had often put the band in jeopardy. His fellow bandmates took to Twitter to express their sadness and shock at his passing.
It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed.

When the video for Firestarter was first released, Flint's headbanging performance was deemed too scary for children so many music TV stations would not play it until after 9 pm.
May you rest in peace Keith Flint.
