Rewind to the season finale of The Bachelor SA when Marc gave the final rose to the stunning 24-year-old blonde Marisia van Wyk -it looked like the perfect match. But, as the saying goes,’ no one knows what goes on behind closed doors’. On Wednesday Marisia, announced that she and Marc had ended their relationship.
It comes as something of a surprise as it had become common knowledge through Buckner’s many media interviews that they had moved in together during lockdown and had really gotten to know each other better. All indications were that things were going really well. In June Marisia said on Instagram,” The other night I shared a post of Marc and myself with you guys. I deleted that post cause I realized how much further we have come not only as individuals but also as a couple since embarking on this wild rollercoaster. Strangely enough, the show feels so long ago. When the cameras stopped rolling, our relationship only really started. No cameras, no microphones, just the two us (and Luns).
All we know right now is what Marisia has revealed on social media through a post that read, "When I put my hands in yours one day, I'll know that I can pack away my map, knowing that my search for you is over." It was followed by several hashtags, including #KnowYourWorth, #NotSettling and #NotGivingUpLoveJustYet.
The break up was confirmed when Marisia responded to a follower in the comment section who asked, "Are you guys still together or no?" by replying: "No, haven't been for a while."
The 24-year-old speech therapist also posted a video on Instagram Stories saying: "Hi everyone. Thank you so much for the messages and for texting and finding out if I'm okay. I am okay, and I believe that everything in life happens for a reason and that you are where you are meant to be. And I am excited for this new chapter in my life."
Marisia did confirm that she would be keeping Si, the dog the couple adopted together, sharing a photo on Instagram Stories with the caption: "Us against the world baby Si," followed by a heartbreak and crying face emoji.
Marisia and Marc have unfollowed each other on Instagram.
