A teenager from Pretoria was crowned Miss World South Africa 2024 this past weekend.

Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg, who is just 18, will represent SA at the 72nd Miss World Pageant in February of 2025.

The date and country for the final global event is not yet known.

Zoalize, who is a digital and marketing executive at Scuderia, Ferrari South Africa was last year's 1st runner-up and decided to enter again this year.

Jansen van Rensburg said she believed she had the qualities to bring back the Miss World Crown to South Africa for the fourth time.

"The crown is my biggest ambition because it is a vessel for change, and that in itself holds so much power," she said.

She is the second winner to be crowned since the Miss World Organisation cut ties with Miss South Africa.

Miss World still has strict rules and parted ways with Miss SA after the rules were changed to include mothers, and raising the age limit as done by the Miss Universe organisation.

Last year the crown went to Claudia Mashego, 24, a medical doctor from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.

South Africa has won the Miss World title three times, Penny Coelen in 1958, Annelien Kriel in 1974 and Rolene Strauss in 2014.
