Scientists had legendary musician, Sting, brain scanned in order to establish the secrets behind the gifted musician. This came after Sting, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, read a book by cognitive psychologist, Daniel, Levtin.
Using new imaging techniques to provide a window into the mind of the artist, it offered insights into the connections between thoughts and sounds. Prof Levitin, also a musician, said: ?It allowed us to make maps of how Sting?s brain organizes music. ?That is important because at the heart of great musicianship is the ability to manipulate in one?s mind rich representations of the desired soundscape.?
The tests were done at Montreal University, in Quebec, Canada, just hours before Sting performed a concert in the city.
