The Afrikaans concert, 'Afrikaans is Groot' is under fire once more, for involving controversial singer Steve Hofmeyr in the show's 2019 line up.
Hofmeyr, who is a well-known Afrikaans musician is set to perform at this year's concert, which is sponsored by big industry names such as MTN, Huisgenoot, Toyota, Netwerk24, Beeld and VIA.
Social Media has been in uproar over Steve's involvement siting his controversial statements regarding race and right-wing comments.
In 2014, Steve tweeted: "Sorry to offend, but in my opinion, Blacks were the architect of Apartheid. Go figure." His tweet trended and caused a lot of backlash amongst Twitter users. He has since tweeted more provocative statements and earlier this year posted a photo of himself with the old South African flag.
When the main sponsors were confronted with questions about their involvement in the music show, they stated that they had no creative input towards the concert, while others such as Coca Cola declined to be a part of the event this year.
The show will be taking place over five sold-out performances from 14 to 17 March in Cape Town at GrandWest Casino, as well as in Pretoria at the Sun Arena at Time Square Casino in November and December this year.
