Sky News presenter, Sarah-Jane Mee, took it all in her stride when Sir Rod Stewart called into a live phone-in she was hosting on the NHS crisis in Britain.
The 78-year-old entertainer called in to offer to donate money for medical scans after hearing stories from people about long waiting times for urgent medical issues on the NHS.
The affable entertainer said it was "ridiculous" that people were having to wait long periods to get essential treatment.
The singer said more than once during the chat how proud he was to be British but bemoaned the present crisis in the NHS, taking a stab at the present government: "In all my years in this country I've never seen it so bad... change the bloody government."
He went on to say that he would like to donate enough money to pay for "10 or 20 scans" after sharing his story of having arrived 20 minutes late for a private scan at a clinic, apologizing profusely when he got there only to be told that there was no issue as the clinic was “empty”.
He said it was a heartbreaking situation that people were dying “because they cannot get scans" while there were “empty” private clinics across the country.
Sir Rod revealed in 2019 that he had been fighting prostate cancer but was in the clear due to early detection.
According to Wikipedia, he is the 12th wealthiest person in the British music industry.
Nice one Rod!
