The embattled SABC continues to provoke the ire of their viewers by kicking much-loved programmes into touch in an attempt to stay afloat financially. First, it was their hugely popular and long-running lifestyle show Top Billing that came to a rather abrupt end. And now it’s the turn of Isidingo.
Isidingo is one of the SABC's longest-running soapies having been on air since 1998. This daily series always kept abreast of current affairs incorporating them into the plot as they were happening. This did indeed set it apart from the rest.
With this news breaking, fans have been expressing their disappointment and anger at the SABC for their alleged mismanagement of finances.
However, according to the Sunday Times, the series is being canned because of low ratings and subsequently failing to attract advertisers
What can we say except - “pay your TV license….it’s the right thing to do”.
