The South African opera star has been forced to rest up in a hospital bed following a serious injury to her leg that happened on stage prior to her spectacular performance at the coronation of King Charles III.
The global audience of millions who watched the coronation would not have guessed that there was anything wrong on Saturday, May 6 as Yende sang her heart out during a rendition of 'Sacred Fire' at Westminster Abbey. She flew the South African flag high, her performance drawing praise from near and far.
Fast forward to May 11 and Yende told her fans via Twitter that she is in hospital and unable to sing at the final performance of 'Manon'on Saturday, May 13 at the Vienna Opera House.
She shared a clip of her ordeal saying: "I’m so sorry to cancel my last performance of Manon."
