Iconic anti-apartheid activist and musician, Johnny Clegg, has been laid to rest in a private funeral.
Clegg, who passed away on Tuesday from complications due to pancreatic cancer, was buried on Wednesday afternoon at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg. According to Roddy Quin, Clegg’s manager, it had always been Johnny’s wish to have a private funeral.
In a statement published by MSN Entertainment, Quin said, “Johnny was buried yesterday (Wednesday) at 16h30, just with his family and some of the band members, it was a very private affair which is what the family requested and it was also Johnny’s request.”
Quin went on to say that details about public memorial services will be announced soon.
Jesse Clegg took to Twitter to pay tribute to, and express his immense sadness, at the loss of his father.
