Regardless of whether we are talking academics, sports or art, somewhere in this world you are guaranteed to bump into a South African who is currently in their prime and doing big things in the world.
Among the several big names such as the world-renowned billionaire Elon Musk, and ever-inspiring Siya Kolisi are our musical artists. Known for producing some of the biggest musical bangers, many of our artists have taken their careers to new heights by introducing South Africa’s music to the global arena.

Her roots are deeply reflected in her music and music videos, and she continues to capture the hearts of her international fans.

The self-proclaimed coolest kid in Africa is known for his creative lyrics and swift musical flow, and while South Africans love him, he has done a good job in securing a nod from American Hip-Hop heads as well. His clear pronunciation of words in his lyrics is among the standout features to Americans as many previously struggled to understand songs of African artists due to their accents. As of 2020, he has signed to the US label Def Jam, however, rumour has it that he is currently independent. Despite this, he has collaborated with several international artists including T.I. and Jidenna, and often makes an appearance on Sway Calloway’s radio show.

When it comes to creating African beats look no further than DJ and record producer Black Coffee. This export has been praised for his distinctive sounds that hold a special place in the hearts of fans abroad. This has not only seen him winning his first Grammy Award but also saw him sell out a packed Madison Square Garden last year. Over the years he has collaborated and rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in the industry including David Guetta, Drake and several others.
