There was no forgiveness for Roseanne Barr in the first episode of The Connors, the rebooted version of her now-cancelled show. Her eponymous character was killed off after having taken an overdose of painkillers.
Barr was fired from the sitcom Roseanne after sending a racist tweet in which she compared Valerie Jarrett, a former Barack Obama aide, to an ape. She later apologised profusely saying she had written the tweet while under the influence of the sleep-inducing medication Ambien.
The Connors centres around the lives of a working-class Americain family. After the airing of this first episode, Barr released a statement together with her Rabbi, saying that the way in which her character was killed off "lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show".
Roseanne, perhaps you should just let sleeping dogs lie!
