Rose McGowan tweets about rape by mystery Hollywood executive

Actress Rose McGowan has sensationally revealed she was raped by a top Hollywood executive. In a series of tweets, the Grindhouse star has opened up about her ordeal at the hands of the unnamed man, revealing she was told by a female attorney she'd never win a case against the studio head because she had appeared in a movie sex scene.

"It's time for some g**damned honesty," she raged. "It's been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist." Using the trending hashtag #whywomendontreport, McGowan added, "a criminal attorney said because I'd done a sex scene in a film I would never win against the studio head.

"She also posted, "When no one else in Hollywood would listen, you heard. When no one else in Hollywood would do, you acted," but she stopped short of naming her alleged attacker.Instead, McGowan, 43, merely hinted at the man in question, revealing her ex had sold "our movie to my rapist for distribution" while not naming the ex-partner or movie.

She married visual artist Davey Detail in 2013 but the couple reportedly separated this year. This is not the first time that the actress has made waves in Hollywood - she has earned a reputation for being one of the industry's most ardent feminist whistleblowers. Last year (Jun15), she tweeted costume notes she had received in relation to an audition for an Adam Sandler film. The instructions asked actresses to wear a "form fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push up bras encouraged). And form fitting leggings or jeans."

To her surprise - since the instruction was nothing out of the ordinary for the industry - the tweet went viral. McGowan subsequently announced she had been fired by her agent for sharing the information.McGowan is also heavily involved with the #womencanstoptrump movement and appears as the face of a video posted by the pro-choice site EMILY's List, in which she recounts various insults Trump has made against women. On Friday (14Oct15), she revealed the video in question had been viewed 5.2 million times.
