The comedian, John Witherspoon, who is best known for his role in the 90s comedy, 'Friday' has passed away.
The actor who was born in Detroit in 1942 began his career as a model and in the 60s and 70s he took a liking to comedy. His career began with stand-up comedy and eventually it evolved to acting in movies. The comedy, 'Friday' made him a household name among youngsters who were fans of Craig Jones, better known as 'Ice Cube' and the comedian Chris Tucker. More recently he starred in the animated series 'The Boondocks' as the voice of Robbert Jebediah 'Granddad' Freeman".
The announcement of his death was made on Twitter:
"It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry, and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you “POPS” always & forever."
The actor was 77 years old.
