Universal Music Group announced on Twitter that Riri reached over a 100 million digital song certifications.
Certifications are awarded when a song is downloaded or streamed 150 times. This means that her songs were downloaded or streamed 15 billion times.
ANTi, being Riri’s eighth studio album was certified platinum just after two days of being released, making it her most succesful.
RIAA ( Recording Industry Association of America) chairman and chief executive was in awe of Rihanna’s achievement:
"Gold & Platinum is the industry’s premier way to celebrate achievement in the marketplace, we’ve given awards to artists for nearly 60 years, but it’s rare that we have the opportunity to recognise a milestone like the one Rihanna has reached. Congratulations to Rihanna! She has not only surpassed RIAA’s 100 million mark, but also is the first artist to do so."
