Remarkable activists win against powerful corporations

In December 2019, Diane Wilson, pictured above, won a landmark case against Formosa Plastics, one of the world’s largest petrochemical companies, for the illegal dumping of toxic plastic waste on Texas’ Gulf Coast.

The Goldman Environmental Prize, also known as the Green Nobel Prize, ‘honors the achievements and leadership of grassroots environmental activists from around the world, inspiring all of us to take action to protect our planet’.

Started in1990 by philanthropists Richard N. Goldman and his wife, Rhoda H. Goldman, this year’s winners include remarkable activists who took on powerful corporations and won landmark lawsuits, proving that ordinary people can make an extraordinary impact on the world around them.

Be inspired and get to know these trailblazers a little better.
