Legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone has died aged 91 in Rome following complications from a bad fall last week. According to various media reports Morricone died in the hospital where he was being treated for a fractured femur following the fall.
He was a musical giant who composed more than 400 scores for cinema and TV, as well as more than 100 classical works. The winner of three Grammys, three Golden Globes, six BAFTAs, ten David di Donatellows and two European Film Awards, the news of his passing has seen a slew of tributes being posted online in tribute to the musical giant.
Director Edgar Wright said of Morricone: “Where to even begin with iconic composer Ennio Morricone? He could make an average movie into a must-see, a good movie into art, and a great movie into legend. He hasn’t been off my stereo my entire life. What a legacy of work he leaves behind. RIP.”

His score to The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, in 1966, is considered to be one of the most influential soundtracks in history and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
His filmography includes over 70 award-winning films, including Exorcist II, La Cage aux Folles, In the Line of Fire, The Untouchables and The Hateful Eight.
