Production has been halted on the set of Muhvango with immediate effect. The popular soapie made the announcement yesterday after it was suspected that one of the actor’s partners had tested positive for the virus.
With the very real possibility of one of Word of Mouth Pictures employee’s having been exposed to someone with Covid-19, SABC2’s Muvhango production heads decided to halt production until further notice.
The series producer Herbert Hadebe told the media that the measure had been taken to reduce the risk of exposure to Covid-19 both on and off the set.
In an official press release, he said, "We are prioritizing the safety of all staff members. We will be constantly monitoring the evolving situation and adapting our efforts and responses. We will continue working together with the SABC as we comply with Covid-19 measures regulations".
It was decided that to ensure the safety of cast and crew everyone was to self-isolate until further notice.
This comes hot on the heels of the halt in production of the series The River following one of its crew members testing positive. Their production team and actors are also currently in isolation.
All those suspected of having the virus are required to present themselves to health authorities for testing, in line with government directives.
