The incredible Soweto Gospel Choir, having walked away with the Grammy for Best World Music Album on Sunday night, has been officially praised and thanked by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Our exceptional vocal exports took home the Grammy for the album Freedom, which was released in September of last year. The albumt forms part of the group’s tribute to the 100 Years of Mandela celebrations and features a selection of South Africa’s struggle songs as well as a moving version of Johnny Clegg’s Asimbonanga. The group has just finished a highly successful USA tour.
President Ramaphosa extended his congratulations to the group on Monday morning, thanking them for “telling Mzansi’s story to the world” through their music. We echo that sentiment!
