Popular Village Green Fair gears up for NAF 2021

Handmade goods are a hallmark of the Village Green Fair

The Village Green Fair craft market has become something of an institution at the National Arts Festival, in operation for over 40 years, it pulls plenty of day visitors to Makhanda.

Operating from the fields of Victoria Girls High School in Beaufort Street, it hosts around 300 top-quality crafters, traders, food vendors, and artists handpicked for their fine wares and dedication to their craft.

However, the Village Green stood vacant last year as the global pandemic took hold and created devastation across the country. Unable to stage the fair, a decision was made to create a platform on the National Arts Festival website for a Virtual Village Green. While innovative, it was never going to match the thrill of the live festival market.

The good news is that planning is now well underway for the 2021 festival with hopes to have a physical Village Green once again. This is obviously dependent on the National State of Disaster and the implications of hosting live events.

In the meantime, applications are open for this year’s market. If you would like to get in touch please click on the link below for all the application details. All applicants, including existing and long-standing stallholders, need to fill in the online application before the 9th of April.
