Pop stars refuse to perform at Trump's inauguration

Barack Obama has no problem with finding pop stars to perform at any of his events. In 2009 Beyoncé and Aretha Franklin serenaded him at his inauguration. He had Rihanna, James Taylor, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grandé perform at the White House. Anyone who is anyone, who has been invited by the Barack Obama to perform, jumped at the opportunity to do so.

Trump is not enjoying the same reaction. According to US news website, The Wrap, pop stars who range from the Swedish star, Zara Larson, to American singer, John Legend and even British singer Elton John have all turned down requests to perform at Trumps inauguration.

John Legend's response to pop stars turning down the request is that, "Creative people tend to reject bigotry and hate. We tend to be more liberal-minded. When we see somebody that's preaching division and hate and bigotry, it's unlikely he'll get a lot of creative people that want to be associated with him."

Zara Larson indirectly supported this response with her own response. The Swedish singer said,"I would never do it. A lot of artists out there have been very pro-Hillary and anti-Donald. So I would never do it and most other smart people wouldn't do it."

Elton John very quickly corrected a statement made by the Trump team, after they announced that he would be performing at a Trump concert on the mall. Elton's team aptly responded with, "Incorrect. He will NOT be performing. There is no truth in this at all."

Appropriately so, no A-list stars are willing to perform at anything Trump related, not even if they were offered a fee.
