The short film "Baas se honne" won the award for best short film at the 12th Edition of the KykNet Silverskermfees in Cape Town on Saturday.
The short film was inspired by three stories based on the truth, which writer, filmmaker and actor, Bennie Fourie wanted to bring to life in this dark comedy.
As a fan of dark comedies, Fourie said in this film he wanted the situations the characters found themselves in to be funnier than the dialogue itself and mastered it perfectly.
Nominated in the Best Actor category, Albert Pretorius was drawn to the project as he is often portrayed as a villain in his other roles.
The story revolves around Pretorius' character, Gys, who is blackmailed by his boss for doing something unsavoury at a staff party, and so a short and dark adventure unfolds between Gys and "Buksie".
The Actor Albert, however, is allergic to dogs in real life which was then written into the script.
The project was also nominated for Best Editing.
