The controversial talk show host walked away with the Television and Radio Industries Club award for the interview of the year Tuesday at London’s Grosvenor House.
The trophy was in recognition of his scooping what turned out to be a pivotal interview with soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 58-year-old host of Piers Morgan Uncensored used his acceptance speech as an opportunity to take a swipe at long-standing rival, Meghan Markle saying tongue in cheek, “ I want to thank Meghan Markle because, if you think about it, without her contribution to my career I would never have gone to TalkTV. I would never have been standing here with this award”.
Morgan lost his position on ITV’s “Good Morning Britain, after criticizing the duchess following the airing of the now-infamous bombshell interview the couple did with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
