Piers Morgan resolute in his opinion of Meghan Markle

Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle

In the wake of his resignation from ITV, Morgan has had time to reflect on the comments he made on Good Morning Britain about the Duchess of Sussex following the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview -  he remains resolute.

In speaking exclusively to Sky News, the outspoken and often controversial TV anchor has called Meghan's allegations against the royals 'contemptible' and a 'diatribe of bilge.' He also went so far as to say the morning after the bombshell interview that he did not believe that Markle had been suicidal during her time as a royal.

His comments led to 41,000 complaints by viewers and an Ofcom investigation. Morgan has since resigned from ITV, taking to Instagram to let his ‘lovers and haters’ know that he stands firm in his opinion of Meghan Markle saying, “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”

According to the Telegraph, Meghan has submitted her own formal complaint to ITV following Morgan's comments.
