Oscars to go ahead without a host


The 2019 Oscar award ceremony is to go ahead without a host following Kevin Hart’s withdrawal from the role after homophobic tweets he posted between 2009 and 2011 resurfaced last year.

Hollywood’s biggest awards evening on the 25th of February will instead be hosted by a variety of different stars to introduce the different sections. According to US Entertainment magazine Variety, this scenario will only change if a superstar can be found who is willing to take on the hosting duties at the eleventh hour, and that seems highly unlikely.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had been considering allowing Hart to come back if he apologised for his actions but Hart refused, saying that he had addressed the issue several times before.
