One Direction's upcoming album is 'a lot different' to their previous records.
Fans of the boyband were left stunned in March when Zayn Malik sensationally quit the group.
But now the remaining singers, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, are moving forward with their career, and are working on their fifth studio album ' their first as a four piece.
In a new interview, the boys revealed that the upcoming offering will reflect the new stage in their history.
'There's a few different sounds on the album, not all the songs sound the same, like, same vibe. They are all kind of different," Niall told Live Nation and ETonline in a joint interview. "Couple of different guitars and drums. It's a lot different than what we did before... but, it's cool."
One Direction were formed on British TV talent show The X Factor and have since had worldwide hits such as Best Song Ever and Steal My Girl.
And Liam acknowledged that while the new album will be 'eclectic', it will also contain the ingredients that shot the group to fame.
'There's a lot of old school vibes as well,' he said. 'I said before that it was quite Oasis-y but I was thinking about one song that I've been playing. it's very diverse I think.'
While 2015 is the year of collaborations, One Direction have yet to choose any potential duet partners for the record.
But that's not to say that there won't be some other big names featuring on the album.
'No collaborations so far,' Niall said. 'It's still in the making so we're not there yet.'
