Nina Dobrev is set to return for the series finale of The Vampire Diaries on Friday, 10 March -
she will reprise her role as Elena Gilbert.
Nina took to Instagram to announce the news of her return, posting a photo of the series final script: "I know it's Thursday, but this is not a TBT," she wrote, adding the hashtags, "#BackOnSet #TVDForever.”
“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended — with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” executive producer Julie Plec said in a statement. “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!”, added EP Kevin Williamson.
Nina has kept herself pretty busy since bidding the show, scoring roles in movies like xXx: Return of Xander Cage and Flatliners. She’ll also guest-star in an episode of Workaholics‘ final season.
