Los Angeles (dpa) – The US series “Stranger Things” starring Winona Ryder will get a third season, Netflix announced on Friday.
“Season 3 is officially happening,” the online streaming service wrote on Twitter.
The first season of the science fiction mystery thriller premiered in 2016.
“Stranger Things,” which is set in the 1980s, takes place in a fictional small town in the US state Indiana where the government conducts secret experiments and people vanish without a trace.
A group of children, including a girl with telepathic capabilities, investigate the mysterious disappearances.
The series, created and directed by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, won five Emmys this year.
