British singer Nathan Sykes has written a new song revealing how hard The Wanted's split was.The 23-year-old, who soared to fame as a member of the British boy band, admits personal problems were behind their demise in 2014, and the star has now addressed his feelings about the split with his new single I Can't Be Mad. "I was in such a dark place when I wrote that," he tells The Sun. "There was a time just before the end where it was really, really dark. It was all happening, a couple of us were in quite a bad place."
We had lost family members, been through break-ups and all sorts and it all took its toll at once. Then we decided we were going to take a break. It lifted the weight off our shoulders a bit."However, he says that writing the song was a cathartic process which allowed him to get through his issues."It wasn't until I started writing in those sessions where I was like, 'God, I really had a tough time'," he explains.
"Reflecting on it was like therapy." Nathan has taken his time over releasing solo material as he's been determined to ensure his first record outside The Wanted is the best it can be."The album's been finished twice, and then unfinished," he told Billboard in February (16). "The first time I finished, it was the label really thinking it was finished, and I was like, 'No, not yet. I need to go back to L.A. to write a couple of songs'."Then I decided (at the) top of the year that I wanted to write a couple more songs, because I've grown up a lot since I started writing the album."I Can't Be Mad is set to be released on 4 November (16) as part of his album Unfinished Business.
