Music for Change

Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani, Meghan Trainor, Selena Gomez, Pink (main vocals) Halsey, Troye Sivan, Kacey Musgraves, Adam Lambert, Juanes, Jason Derulo, Tyeler Glen, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Mary Lambert, MNEK, Alex Newell, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul and Jussie Smollet (chorus backing vocals)

That's everyone. The above mentioned singers have offered their talents to creating the new single 'Hands', a tribute song to the victims and families of the Orlando Massacre. The lyrics of the song offer a clear message:

"Doesn't matter who you love, all that matters is your love. I've been watching news and seeing all this hate. Tell me is it wrong to want a little change?"

It's a call for equality. More and more initiatives such as these are happening. Recently the Spice Girls iconinc 'Wannabe' hit of the nineties has become a 2016 feminist anthem. The campaign is called #WhatIReallyReallyWant and features artists from India, Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The campaign seeks equal education, equal pay and ending child marriages and violence against women. In an unrelated case to the campaign initiative, Mumford and Sons recenetly boycotted a Swedish music festival when 17 women reported being sexually assaulted at the festival. The outcry from Mumford and Sons along with singers such as Zara Larsson has prompted the Swedish Prime Minister to respond by tightening laws on sexual assault and improving the manner in which these cases are investigated.

Music has always be used as a medium for change and the above mentioned initiatives are no exception

If you haven't listened to 'Hands' yet then listen to it here:
