Move over Titanic?.Black Panther is putting down anchor

The hugely popular Marvel movie starring many of South Africa’s biggest names in the entertainment industry, is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

It has now officially raced past James Cameron’s 1997 Titanic to become the third in the rankings for the top grossing film of all time in the USA. It moved into this position over the weekend when it reached more than R8 billion at the domestic box office.  

It is now also the highest –grossing movie at the North American box office after 2015’s Star Wars : The Force Awakened with over R11 billion and 2009’s Avatar with over R9 billion.

World wide Black Panther has grossed over R12 billion since its release.
