He is one of the greatest actors of our time and now he faces a slew of negative publicity with the news that eight women have alleged that he sexually harassed them and behaved inappropriately around them.
The information released is the result of an investigation by media giant, CNN. During the month long investigation 16 women shared details of Morgan Freeman’s alleged inappropriate behaviour both on movie sets and in the offices of his production company. Eight of the women interviewed said that they were subjected to unwanted touching by Freeman.
One unnamed source said that during the filming of the movie Going in Style, the octogenarian had touched her repeatedly, tried to lift her skirt and had often asked her if she was wearing underwear.
In response to the explosive allegations Morgan Freeman has issued a statement apologizing for his behaviour saying, "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. Making women feel uncomfortable was "never my intent".
He is one of many A-list stars who have been accused of improper sexual behaviour of late, after allegations of sexual abuse by producer Harvey Weinstein led to the birth of the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment.
