Top American rapper Missy Elliot has been nominated for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Elliot's songwriting and producing skills have crafted many great hits such as 'Let it go' by Monica, '1,2 Step' by Ciara, 'Babydoll' by Mariah Carey and 'Signs' by Beyoncé.
Elliott is the first female rapper nominated for the prestigious prize and could also become the third rapper to enter the organisation following recent inductees Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri.
Other artists on this year's nominees list are Mariah Carey, Chrissie Hynde, Vince Gill, Mike Love, Jimmy Cliff, Jeff Lynne, Cat Stevens, John Prine, Lloyd Price, Tommy James and the Eurythmics (Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart).
The 50th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in New York on June 13.
