Despite delays and the withdrawal of a major sponsor, Sun International has confirmed that the Miss SA pageant will go ahead this year. There were fears that this year's contest could be in doubt after registration delays and the unfortunate withdrawal of their major sponsor.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, organisers confirmed that Cell C had withdrawn from the event but said that the show would most definitely go on. The article did not give any indication as to whether or not the ‘exciting news’ soon to be broken to the media, would include the announcement of a new sponsor.
Speculation about the pageant grew when current Miss SA Tamaryn Green returned to school recently, suggesting that her reign was over. But this is not the case according to Sun International spokesperson Zoleka Skweyiya , who said that Tamaryn will retain her title until the crowing of a new Miss SA.
Tamaryn Green’s last Instagram post in which she officially represented South Africa was on March, World TB Day this year.
