Metallica: 'We'll distribute music in cereal boxes'

Metallica are considering new methods to release songs and could potentially sell albums contained within cereal boxes.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich revealed that the band are currently writing new material and suggested that they are willing to explore non-traditional ways of distribution.

Ulrich told Spin that the band are "going to be recording very soon".

He added: At some point we're going to want to share that with people that are interested in listening to it. So we've got to figure out ways we want to do that, from giving it away in cereal boxes to getting people to do handstands for it. We could come up with something wacky.  On the recording of the new album, Ulrich said they are "throwing ideas at the canvas and picking out great riffs".

This will be the band's first album without the backing of a major label having split from Warner Brothers following the release of 'Lulu', last year's collaborative album with Lou Reed.
