To the world, the adored star of Friends, Perry appeared to have it all – nothing could have been further from the truth.
His much-anticipated book, released via Amazon and titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, is described by The New York Times as, “CANDID, DARKLY FUNNY...POIGNANT”.
In it he takes the reader behind the scenes of the hit sitcom, giving a blow-by-blow account of his desperate struggle with addiction and his abuse of opioids and alcohol. It covers his childhood through to his life as a superstar during Friends and his present life of sobriety.
As reported in Rolling Stone Magazine, he begins the memoir by saying: “Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead.”
Perry is eager for the world to hear his story so that he can help others who are battling the same demons.
