Matt LeBlanc was left gobsmacked when a robe-wearing caveman in Morocco's Atlas Mountains quoted his Friends character's famous catchphrase. The 49-year-old actor became a household name through his role as Joey Tribbiani in the hit U.S. sitcom, which ran from 1994 to 2004. He has since taken on a variety of other parts, including co-presenting British motoring show Top Gear, and as he shot a segment for the programme in deepest, darkest Morocco, he was stunned when he was recognised as his alter ego. "I was in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, shooting a thing for Top Gear," Matt told Entertainment Weekly.
"I mean, we were far away from civilisation. And these people were wearing robes, and they live in caves and stuff. They called me Joey and said, (Joey's catchphrase) 'How you doin'?' in a really butchered accent."While Matt is no stranger to having "How you doin'?" shouted at him across the street, the encounter in the mountains took some getting over. The actor explains it just shows the global and eternal appeal of the programme. "It was like, 'Oh wow. Did not see that one coming!'" Matt said of being approached by the caveman."The show is everywhere. It still holds up."Matt was talking to Entertainment Weekly about his new show Man with a Plan, in which he stars as a former contractor whose life is turned upside down when his wife returns to work and he's left looking after the kids. The show is airing on CBS, the same network airing fellow Friends actor Matthew Perry's new show The Odd Couple, but Matt insists there?s no talk of having his former co-star cameo on Man with a Plan. "There?s no plan to have anything like that," Matt said. "The most logical one would be Matthew because he?s on another CBS show and they?re right next door, but there hasn?t been any talk for any of that yet. There?s been a lot of questions about that..."
