Margaret Gardiner, South Africa’s first Miss Universe, celebrated her sixtieth birthday last week in Los Angeles. And while she gave nothing away on Instagram as to how she celebrated this milestone birthday, she did post a picture of herself in a bikini and dedicated the post to people who she said have been called ‘‘Too fat. Too thin. Too tall. Too short. Wrong colour. To all those who don't fit, I celebrate you. I am one too."
Since moving to the USA, Margaret has worked as a TV and print journalist, interviewing the likes of George Clooney is all in a day’s work for her. She is also a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that votes on and hosts the prestigious Golden Globes.
