Lorde officially announced on Twitter that her new single, "Green Light" and a video directed by Grant Singer will be out on Friday, 3 March.
Lorde teased her fans with short videos, pictures and a new website, imwaitingforit.com.
She called the new song "complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE."
The single is expected to be Lorde’s first release from highly anticipated second album.
The singer has previously alluded to the album, which would be her first since releasing her debut record Pure Heroine in 2013.
In January, she tweeted: “I truly believe in the necessity of cathartic pop records in times like these – I love the big sprawling projects too, but there’s something about the falls & lifts of meticulous pop, moments designed for u to feel what u need to, that’s more important than ever. You’re probably guessing what kind of record I’ve made based on these tweets.”
