The former supermodel graces the cover of British Vogue after a five-year hiatus from public life following a failed cosmetic fat procedure that left her “brutally disfigured’.
The statuesque 57-year-old shares intimate details of her life with the magazine, explaining that five years ago she had undergone a procedure called cryolipolysis, under the brand name CoolSculpting, to reduce fat under her skin.
However, the exact opposite happened with a rare complication called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia causing Evangelista to suffer extreme facial and body deformity.
Evangelista initiated legal action against CoolSculpting's owner Zeltiq Aesthetics seeking over R844m in damages for emotional distress and lost income and in July this year, she was happy to announce that the case had been settled.
Taking to Instagram she wrote: “I’m pleased to have settled the CoolSculpting case. I look forward to the next chapter of my life with friends and family, and am happy to put this matter behind me.”
