Lena Dunham hated the Met Gala and couldn't wait to leave

Lena Dunham has joined Amy Schumer among the stars planning to turn their backs on the annual Met Gala, revealing she did not have a good time at fashion's big night.Comedienne Schumer has vowed never to attend the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala in New York again, revealing this year's fashion bash "felt like punishment", and now she has opened up about her experience there during a chat with Lena for the writer/actress' online Lenny Letter.

Dunham, who wore a tuxedo to the ball and took Lenny Letter partner Jenni Konner as her date, explains she sat across from Amy at the gala, counting down the minutes to "when we could escape"."I was sitting next to (football star) Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards," Lena adds. "He was like, 'That's a marshmallow. That's a child. That's a dog'. It wasn't mean - he just seemed confused. "The vibe was very much like, 'Do I want to f**k it? Is it wearing a... yep, it's wearing a tuxedo. I'm going to go back to my cell phone'. It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, 'This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes'."Lena decided it was time to leave shortly after Amy's exit, revealing, "I attempted to grind my a** on Michael B. Jordan for an additional twenty minutes and then left right after you."

Lena and Amy aren't alone in their distaste for the Met Gala - Tina Fey and Gwyneth Paltrow have previously gone public with their negative thoughts about the fashion gala. After attending the bash in 2013, Paltrow announced she wouldn't be back, telling USA Today newspaper, "I'm never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all."
