Lee Duru’s cameo performance in newly released Netflix Crime Drama

Lee Duru

From the Garden Route to the Wild Coast and into the Karoo - on this occasion with Netflix! Lee Duru’s Cameo Performance in the newly released Netflix crime drama: “Wild is the Wind” marks her passion for the craft. From a leading performance in M-Net’s “Recipes for love and murder” to a cameo role as a police officer in Graaff Reinet, Duru’s acting prowess shines through. Albeit a ‘small part’ - it came with a Big Heart.

Duru says: “I am particularly pleased for the people of Graaff Reinet in the heart of Algoa Country as Wild is the Wind really puts the town on the map. Many local residents were used in the production and I would imagine it injected good money into the town’s economy. Hopefully, the beautiful scenery in this quaint Karoo town will tweak the curiosity of the audience to the extent that they will want to visit.”

“Wild is the wind” follows two corrupt police officers investigating the brutal murder of a young girl as tensions come to a head in their small, racially-segregated town.

The film Features Mothusi Magano, Frank Rautenbach, Chris Chameleon, Mona Monyane, Nicolus Moitoi (Sonnyboy), Izel Bezuidenhout (Melissa), Phoenix Baaitse, Deon Coetzee, Brendon Daniels, Michelle Douglas, Nicola Hanekom, Robert Hobbs (Dominee), Campbell Meas, Louw Venter and Erica Wessels.

Duru added: “Writer and Director, Fabian Medea produced an extraordinary film that explores unconscious bias within the South African context and takes the viewer through a gamut of emotions. That, and working with the legendary Mothusi Magano, made this project one I was very proud to have been a part of. And connecting with old friends like the stunning Renate Stuurman was also pretty cool!"

Wild is the Wind was released on Friday 28 October, and is available on demand to Netflix subscribers.
