87-year-old Larry King is receiving treatment for COVID-19 at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angles.
Sky News reports that the family told CNN that he has been there for over a week now and is currently in isolation.
King suffered a major heart attack in 1987 and in 2017 had a cancerous tumour successfully removed from his lungs. As an octogenarian, he suffers from Type 2 diabetes.
King's broadcasting fame began in the 1970s with his radio programme The Larry King Show, which he hosted on the network Mutual Broadcasting System.
He then went on to have his own television show, Larry King Live on CNN, between 1985 and 2010, where his guests included politicians, celebrities and sports personalities.
In 1989, he was inducted into the National Radio Hal of Fame and in 1996 to the Broadcasters' Hall of Fame.
King has 2.4 million followers on Twitter, his last tweet was posted on 27 November for Thanksgiving and expressed his gratitude for his "boys."

King has been married eight times, from which he has five children and nine grandchildren, as well as four great-grandchildren.
