Lady Gaga sued for not paying stolen dog reward

Lady Gaga with her beloved French Bulldogs

In February 2021, Lady Gaga offered a nearly R7 million reward to anyone who safely returned her two dogs, Koji and Gustav, after they were stolen at gunpoint in an attack that left her dog walker Ray Fischer critically injured. Now the woman who returned the French bulldogs is suing the superstar.

Jennifer McBride was arrested in April 2021 after an LAPD news release stated that she and fellow accomplice Harold White were both "determined to be accessories after the initial crime."  McBride was subsequently charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact and another for receiving stolen property, she pleaded no contest and was sentenced to two years probation in December 2022.

McBride brought the dogs to the LAPD Olympic Station two days after the crime, saying that she had found them and was responding to a plea for their return after seeing a post on social media. When McBride returned the two dogs it appeared, at the time, that she was unrelated to their theft. However, Gaga was advised by the law enforcement officers not to hand over any money until more details emerged.

McBride is now seeking legal action against the "Bad Romance" singer for not paying her the reward that was promised after she returned the dogs to the police department. This is according to Los Angeles County Superior Court documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine.

In the Friday filing, McBride's attorney alleged that Gaga committed a breach of contract, fraud by false promise, and fraud by misrepresentation by including the words "no questions asked" in her offer and then not paying McBride the reward, per the outlet.

There has been no response from Gaga’s representatives as yet.
