Kim Kardashian proved just because you were called out once doesn’t mean you won’t give something controversial a red hot go another time. The mother-of-three has caught the attention of the internet once again after she turned up to the red carpet of the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Saturday night sporting a set of braids.
The 37-year-old arrived to the awards with her mother Kris Jenner, wearing a white tube top, high-waisted skirt and her hair in a style traditionally known as Fulani braids. Earlier this year she got into a spot of bother after wearing a similar hairstyle, as many blasted her for ‘cultural appropriation’, after calling Bo Derek’s famous braids inspiration for the look.
She seemingly responded with an Instagram post, wearing braids, that was captioned: ‘Hi can I get zero f**ks please? Thanks.’ While Bo Derek responded by sticking up for the star, as she said: ‘It’s just a hairstyle.’
This time, however, the backlash was just as swift.
While others felt she was trying to take some shine off Beyoncé, who just announced a new album alongside husband Jay-Z on Saturday night.
She did have some fans in her corner, though, who thought the PC police were out in force. One said: ‘This cultural appropriation shit is getting on my damn nerves. If Kim Kardashian wants to wear braids then she will wear braids.
