Kevin Hart steps down as 2019 Oscars host after backlash over old tweets

Kevin Hart recently made the announcement that he would be hosting the 2019 Academy Awards on his Instagram account - now the comedian has stepped down because of the outcry over his homophobic tweets.

Hart took to Twitter to pass his withdrawal from the Academy Awards:

“I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”

In a video he posted on Instagram, Hart said the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences gave him an ultimatum, to apologise or they would find another host.
