Kanye West has threatened to boycott next year's (17) Grammy Awards if his pal Frank Ocean isn't nominated.News emerged this week that the R&B star's Blonde and Endless albums are not eligible for the Grammys, because no one at his record label or management company submitted the releases for contention. Kanye believes Grammy bosses should make an exception because the albums were clearly among the best of the year, and during a concert in Oakland, California on Saturday night (22Oct16), he made his feelings clear.
"I'll tell you this right now, if his album is not nominated in no categories (sic), I'm not showing up to the Grammys," he told the crowd. "As artists, we've got to come together to fight the bulls**t."Both Blonde and Endless were released well before the 2017 Grammy eligibility cut-off date of 30 September (16).The albums were Ocean's first new full-length releases since his Grammy-winning 2012 debut Channel Orange.
It was nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album, with the singer emerging victorious in the latter.Ocean has yet to comment on the controversy. It's Kanye latest outburst on his Saint Pablo Tour, after recently taking aim at his mentor Jay Z for failing to personally visit him and wife Kim Kardashian following her terrifying armed robbery ordeal.During his show in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday night (19Oct16), he accused the 99 Problems hitmaker of being a bad friend as he merely called to check in on West and Kardashian after Kim was bound, gagged, and robbed of jewellery and cell phones in Paris, France earlier this month (Oct16)."Don't call me after the robbery and say, 'How you feelin'?'" Kanye began.
"You wanna know how I'm feelin'? Come by the house. Bring the kids by the house like we're brothers. Let's sit down."An emotional Kanye went on to reveal their children have never even had a play date, despite the fact their daughters are close in age: "I can't take this s**t bro (sic). Our kids have never even played together," he added.
