Justin Timberlake not under investigation for voting violatio

The District Attorney in Shelby County, Tennessee has dismissed reports suggesting Justin Timberlake is under investigation for his illegal voting booth selfie. The SexyBack hitmaker took to Instagram on Monday (24Oct16) and shared a photo of himself casting his early ballot back home in Memphis, Tennessee, after flying in from Los Angeles, where he had just premiered his new movie Trolls on Sunday (23Oct16).

In the accompanying caption, the busy star urged fans to follow his lead and head to the polls in the U.S. presidential election, writing, "No excuses, my good people! There could be early voting in your town too. If not, November 8th! Choose to have a voice! If you don't, then we can't HEAR YOU! Get out and VOTE!

"His seemingly innocent snap caused a stir online as Tennessee law prohibits voters from taking photos or recording conversations while voting.Violators face 30 days behind bars and a fine, and on Tuesday (25Oct16) it appeared Hillary Clinton supporter Timberlake could become the first person to be prosecuted under the new law, which was introduced last year (15). A spokesperson for local authorities told TMZ the case was "under review", but now the District Attorney herself, General Amy Weirich, has cleared up the claims, insisting Justin will not face prosecution."

The statement released earlier by my office regarding Justin Timberlake and an investigation was incorrect and was released without my knowledge," General Weirich tells TheWrap.com. "I am out of town at a conference. No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so."
